CapitaLand and CDL unveil CanningHill Piers an upcoming landmark residence that is located in between Fort Canning Hill and Singapore River

CapitaLand Limited (CapitaLand) and City Developments Limited (CDL) today revealed the design for their new jointly-developed residential project, called Canninghill Piers, situated between the historic Fort Canning Hill and the famous Singapore River in District 6. Its name refers to its rare hill and river-frontage dual-frontage CanningHill Piers is the only residential project in Singapore that is complemented by the two natural elements of the immediate vicinity. It has excellent connectivity, which is the very best in modern living. This area is connected directly the Fort Canning MRT station on the Downtown Line, and right close to F&B and the lifestyle hub Clarke Quay.

The iconic home is part of an development which includes a commercial element that includes F&B and retail stores named CanningHill Square, a hotel operating through the Moxy brand owned by Marriott International and a serviced residence that is licensed as a hotel that is operated through the Somerset brand. The scheme of design comprises four towers with different heights that are vertically-facing residential towers as well as one in the case of the hotel and the serviced residence – all set upon an edifice that is double-storey for commercial use. The four towers are separated from one another to maximize views, and also permit the courtyard that is in the middle that is the top of the commercial platform to be opened towards the skies. A single, continuous drape that covers the façade ties the different elements into a distinctive and beautiful total. Certain areas of the façade drape are lifted in order to reveal the entrances to buildings or communal areas, as well as green spaces of various heights which create a solid and unifying architecture for the integrated development.

With a height of 180 meters at its highest, the 48-storey residential tower that faces the riverside will be the highest residential building on the Singapore River, while the 24 storey residential tower that overlooks Fort Canning Hill stands at 100 meters. With a total of 696 units The two towers are connected via the iconic sky bridge located at Level 24 which is brimming with an array of leisure facilities like The Sky Gym, Infinity Lap Pool, Sky Gourmet, Flexi Lounge and Function Room with uninterrupted view across Fort Canning Hill, Singapore River and Singapore River, the Central Business District (CBD), Marina Bay and beyond. A host of facilities and vantage points are waiting for residents living on Level 3, where an outdoor jogging track, rock climbing wall and a children’s adventure play space are located in the lush landscape. There is the Sky Club, a luxurious clubhouse with a total area of 1900 sq ft (sq feet) with breathtaking panoramic views over Marina Bay, together with the Sky Garden, are located at Level 45. A variety of units ranging including one- to five-bedroom luxury apartment homes, Sky Suites and a Super Penthouse that range in size from 410 to 8,950 square feet and will be offered.

CanningHill Piers is designed by Danish architect firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) which is headed by Bjarke Ingels. He is one of the most well-known contemporary architects, who has designed the award-winning housing developments like 8 House in Copenhagen and Via 57 West in New York. BIG has also been appointed as the designer of CapitaSpring the soon-to-be-completed, 51-storey integrated development developed by CapitaLand Group in Singapore’s Raffles Place CBD. CanningHill Piers is expected to be the first of BIG’s residential projects which will go to completion in Asia.

Inspiring itself from the surrounding area The landscape that is CanningHill Piers extends the lush greenery of Fort Canning Hill to its numerous sky terraces. A portion of the road that divides the site from the river will be converted into a beautiful riverfront promenade that will seamlessly connect to the lively Clarke Quay lifestyle precinct along the same stretch. In the near future, residents will have the option of walking through the area from Fort Canning Park to Pearl’s Hill City Park, which runs along the beautiful Singapore River, as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Master Plan 2019. Additionally Clarke Quay’s re-energized retail offerings and F&B services will be able to meet the requirements of the growing population of people living who live in that River Valley vicinity.

In the 2025 timeframe, it is planned to be finished, CanningHill Piers enjoys convenient access to the CBD via the Central Expressway. It will be connected through an underpass Fort Canning MRT station on the Downtown Line, and a only eight minutes walk away from Clarke Quay MRT station on the North East Line. Water transportation between Marina Bay and Robertson Quay is also available by river taxi.
